International Tech Supplier Chooses Rangiora
From their Rangiora base Go Wireless NZ supply networking equipment to companies and individuals across New Zealand, Australia and the South Pacific.
“It made sense to be here because of the cost. But it’s also close to the airport which is key for a distribution company like ours and we do a considerable amount of business from here”, says business owner Dale Roberts.
Back in 2005 Dale was installing Wi-Fi hotspots for what was then Telecom. He realised that a lot of the equipment he needed simply wasn’t available in New Zealand. So he started to import it and sell it to installers.
The business has grown steadily and after being located both in Woodend and then Kaiapoi, they now operate from a 1000 square metre office and warehouse space in Southbrook, the gateway to Rangiora. The company employs 18 staff.
Their offices are bright and modern and an upstairs kitchen is complete with a full size pool table. This ‘Google’ feel follows through in Dale’s management approach: “We have a very flat structure here, anyone and everyone can have their say,” he says. This forward looking culture also means he never struggles to recruit.
The company’s catalogue of products includes high-powered outdoor access points, VOIP phones and routers. They keep on top of new developments in the industry, attending conferences, training and other industry events both here and overseas. And, in the fast changing world of technology, they add around 10 to 20 new products to their catalogue each week.
Ask why he runs his business from the Waimakariri District, Dale is quick in his response.
“Why not? There’s no reason why you wouldn’t”.
