ENC’s role is primarily to be an un-locker of economic opportunity. To do this, we are a facilitator, catalyst for change, information gatherer, analyst, leader, and a connector, trainer, supporter, and advisor for North Canterbury businesses.
Supporting existing businesses to grow and prosper is a base ENC service. It is intended to be provided, with minor improvements, refinements, and increased scale, as a continuance of the successful services that have provided by ENC in the past.
Waimakariri and Hurunui’s land, transport, landscape, service, product, and infrastructure offerings make it an ideal location for manufacturing, supply-chain logistics, servicing, and other businesses. ENC will work with Waimakariri and Hurunui District Councils to further develop and implement business attraction programmes encouraging more businesses to establish that will create more jobs and provide greater benefits to the local economy.
Taking place every two years, the awards are North Canterbury’s premier business event and celebrate all that is great about business in North Canterbury. We honour the best businesses in our region and bring the business community together for a great night out at the awards ceremony.
The ‘MADE NORTH CANTERBURY’ local food and beverage programme is proving a success. The unique provenance and identity association between products, services and everything that is good, sustainable, and attractive about North Canterbury is a domain that is still at a comparatively fledging stage. It’s aim is to raise the profile and sales for North Canterbury food and beverage businesses, foster collaboration under this unifying brand.
The North Canterbury MOVE ON UP project is designed to assist employers and recruitment agencies attract talent to work in North Canterbury by positioning North Canterbury as an attractive place to work and live. The project also develops and maintains a strong regional identity.

Visit Waimakariri is a small team of passionate, experienced and highly skilled staff tasked with the promotion of the Waimakariri district – our events, activities, accommodation, walks and eateries to domestic and international visitors.
An innovative, ‘go to’ space for the North Canterbury business community. Business Centre facilities include a spacious Conference Room with catering available, two Meeting Rooms, casual Drop-in Workspaces and the Kaiapoi isite Visitor Information Centre. The ENC team also works onsite.
The Kaiapoi isite Visitor Information Centre is a member of New Zealand’s isite network and is the official isite for the Waimakariri District the gateway to North Canterbury from Christchurch. With trained friendly staff and ‘official’ local experts offering FREE Booking service for local and nationwide accommodation, buses, trains, shuttles, ferries and attractions and much more.
