North Canterbury businesses were in the spotlight last Friday evening at the biennial North Canterbury Business Awards gala dinner and ceremony last Friday evening in Rangiora.

The Supreme Award, selected from across the nine categories, was carried off by Sunergy Solar, a North Canterbury business designing and installing high-performing solar systems nationwide.

The company is New Zealand’s only Toitu ¯ EnviroMark Diamond-certified solar company, and delivers customerspecific solutions with measurable environmental and financial benefits — helping businesses decarbonise and create a positive impact for people and the planet.

The North Canterbury News People’s Choice Award, in which 53 entrants opted to compete, went to the Rangiora RSA Club.

Rangiora RSA Club has created a space where everyone feels valued.

Its attentive service and a focus on shared business, social, and sporting interests, the club fosters strong relationships, and has a commitment to dynamic and excellent service.

Over 350 organisations and business owners, staff and their partners gathered at the event, hosted by Enterprise North Canterbury, with Stephanie McDonald, from local radio station Compass FM the Master of Ceremonies.

The awards are aimed at showcasing and celebrating businesses and organisations across the Kaikoura, Hurunui and Waimakariri Districts, raising their profiles and giving them an opportunity to promote what they do to a wider audience.

Awards were spread across the huge geographical region, showcasing a huge variety of businesses from traditional to innovative, large and small and everything in between.
